Installation of a 51m² LED videowall
at Orange's OpenLab in La Défense (Paris, France)

Overview of the project :

  • 2 side-by-side 146'' Samsung THE WALL All-in-one LED screens (4K IAB series) : each all-in-one screen measures 1.8m in height and 3.2m in width
  • Screen weight : 168kg each, totalling 336kg
  • Structure and materials
    • Freestanding structure made of French aluminum
    • Side covers made of French steel
    • Sheathes for cable management
  • Total surface area: 16m²
  • Total weight: 425 kg, of which 89kgfor the mechanical structure
  • Completion date: Spring 2024

For its Parisian OpenLab, Orange opted for an over 16m² LED wall in its auditorium. In this space dedicated to experimentation, innovation, and collaboration, Orange required high-quality image transmission to ensure ultra-high resolution through these two 146'' All-in-One screens, from Samsung IAB series with 4K resolution and a 0.8 pitch.

With dimensions of 6.5m wide by 2.5m high, this LED wall can dynamically and engagingly display simulations, digital prototypes, or complex data.

Design and installation :

The project was entrusted to ERARD PRO, renowned for its expertise in designing custom AV integration solutions that combine durability, aesthetics, and functionality. Furthermore, the use of French manufacturing and high-quality materials aligned with the client's commitment to reducing the project’s carbon footprint, in accordance with its CSR policy.

The stand-alone aluminum structure was specifically designed to accommodate the Samsung all-in-one screens' frame kits. Steel cladding was added to meet the aesthetic standards of the OpenLab. Integrated cable sleeves at the back ensure neat and functional cable management. On-site, the structure was secured with wall fixings.

Orange also sought a versatile LED wall capable of accommodating and testing hardware equipment such as cameras, speakers, or sensors. So, we integrated four movable magnetic plates, enabling quick and secure attachment of these devices anywhere on the LED wall. Additionally, invisible pivoting magnetic hatches were incorporated to ensure elegant and practical cable management. This magnetic ecosystem enhances the LED wall’s flexibility, making it ideal for enriching experiments and tests in an innovative environment.

A technical and human collaboration

As a long-standing partner, ERARD PRO supported Orange in bringing this project to fruition with its recognized expertise. French manufacturing, carried out at our workshop in the Rhône-Alpes region, stood out through the rigorous selection of materials and their origins, ensuring optimal quality. Throughout the process, detailed and precise drawings enabled a thorough monitoring of each design phase.

Beyond technical aspects, the human dimension played a crucial role. Orange benefited from a dedicated engineering service, with a single technical point of contact, fostering effective communication and personalised support. This approach, combined with on-site installation assistance, simplified the integration of the structure while ensuring the smooth execution of the entire operation.

The installation of the LED wall at Orange's OpenLab in La Défense bringstechnological innovation and French skills together. Thanks to ERARD PRO's expertise, every stage of the project, from design to installation, was made with precision and diligence, meeting the client’s technical, aesthetic, and ecological requirements.
